About

The premier directory of flexible capacity in North America

VPPdirectory is an independent, professionally curated directory of Virtual Power Plants, aggregators, demand response programs, and flexible capacity providers operating across the United States and Canada.

What is a Virtual Power Plant?

A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a coordinated network of distributed energy resources — home batteries, smart thermostats, EVs, solar systems, flexible C&I loads, and more — operated together to provide power to the grid as if it were a single dispatchable power plant. VPPs help balance supply and demand, integrate renewables, and defer expensive transmission and generation investments.

Who VPPdirectory is for

Utility planners, ISO market staff, data center and AI infrastructure developers, regulatory teams, DER aggregators, investors, and journalists all rely on us for fast, structured intelligence on the rapidly growing flexibility market.

Our data sources

Listings are compiled and updated regularly from a combination of public sources, including:
  • Department of Energy (DOE) reports and program disclosures
  • FERC and ISO/RTO filings (PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, MISO, SPP)
  • State PUC dockets and utility tariffs
  • Company disclosures, investor reports, and press releases
  • Direct submissions from providers, verified by our team

Update policy

We refresh the directory continuously. Each listing carries a status (Active, Pilot, Planned) and a verification flag when supporting documentation is on file. Providers can claim and update their listings; significant changes are reviewed before publication.

A note on accuracy

Capacity, asset counts, and program details change frequently. Information is provided for reference only and should not be treated as a substitute for primary sources or direct conversation with the provider. We welcome corrections at hello@vppdirectory.com.
