A directory built for discovery, with evidence visible at the claim level.

VPP data is unusually easy to overstate because deployed assets, enrolled load, event output, software-managed portfolios, forecasts, and targets are often described with the same MW unit. We preserve those distinctions instead of presenting one misleading total.

Entity taxonomy

Every profile is classified as an aggregator/operator, software platform, utility program, market resource, or watchlist entry. Customer segment is tracked separately.

Field-level evidence

Capacity, status, service territory, and markets each receive an outcome: Supported, Mismatch, Needs primary source, or Not audited. Each field shows its checked date and claim-specific source when available.

Capacity basis

Peak dispatchable

Observed or committed peak output for a stated period or event.

Event performance

Measured load shift or output during a particular grid event.

Enrolled program

Nameplate or qualified capacity enrolled in a utility or market program.

Nominated capacity

Capacity submitted or nominated for market participation.

Managed portfolio

Flexible load or DERs managed by a platform across programs and markets.

Installed portfolio

Installed equipment; not assumed to be dispatchable VPP capacity.

Market-wide registered

A whole-market resource category, not one provider's portfolio.

Announced target

A future goal or approved ceiling, not operating capacity.

Rollup and ranking rules

Only primary-source-supported capacity in active or pilot listings is eligible.
Only the same entity type and capacity basis may be compared.
Planned targets, acquired records, market-wide resources, installed portfolios, and unsupported claims are excluded.
Known parent/subsidiary and program overlaps are not double counted.

Audit coverage

The 25 largest capacity claims in the beta dataset were reviewed against primary sources on 2026-07-20. A supported capacity claim does not imply that every other profile field has been verified.

Coverage benchmark

We use Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's public VPP inventory as an external benchmark for U.S. program coverage. Its 2025 release contains more than 950 entries, including approximately 180 researched VPP programs. VPPdirectory does not copy or commercially republish its rows; the workbook asks users to verify data independently and directs commercial licensing inquiries to its contributor.
