Use the current SGIP handbook and program administrator. The directory does not publish a universal $/kWh rate or assume any customer qualifies.

These are published program terms, not a guaranteed payment. Actual earnings depend on measured performance, event counts, and what your aggregator passes through.

How the program works

The Self-Generation Incentive Program supports qualifying customer-side energy systems. Incentive categories, administrator budgets, equipment rules and applicant documentation determine whether a project qualifies. A medical-baseline account or high-fire-risk address alone does not establish an award.

The CPUC also describes a Residential Solar and Storage Equity offering that began accepting reservations in June 2025 for qualifying low-income customers. Use the current handbook and administrator budget tracker; an announced funding allocation is not a live balance or a promise of available incentives.

Who qualifies

  • Match the specific current budget category and all applicant, equipment, site and operational requirements.
  • Confirm open funding with the relevant SGIP administrator before committing to a project.
  • Review ongoing dispatch or demand-response obligations separately from the installation award.

How to enroll

Identify the appropriate administrator and budget category, review the current handbook with your installer, and confirm reservation approval before treating an incentive as committed funding.

Questions buyers ask

Is SGIP a VPP program?

SGIP is an equipment incentive. Some awards have ongoing operating or demand-response obligations, but receiving an incentive is not proof that a resource is enrolled in a particular VPP.

Does a high-fire-risk address guarantee an equity award?

No. Eligibility depends on the full category requirements, documentation and available funding. Check the current handbook and administrator.

Can this calculator estimate SGIP funding?

No. It does not model project-specific SGIP categories, budgets or award amounts.
