Green Mountain Power

Green Mountain Power’s Vermont customer-owned home battery program. The upfront incentive depends on committed power and discharge duration, rather than a recurring annual rate.

Published rates

Three-hour battery commitment

$850/kW enrollment incentive

Alternative to the four-hour option; confirm caps and agreement terms.

Four-hour battery commitment

$950/kW enrollment incentive

Not an additional annual payment; location-specific adders require GMP approval.

These are published program terms, not a guaranteed payment. Actual earnings depend on measured performance, event counts, and what your aggregator passes through.

How the program works

GMP’s current battery BYOD page lists $850 per kW for a three-hour commitment or $950 per kW for a four-hour commitment, plus a possible location-based adder. These are alternative enrollment incentive structures; do not add them together or treat them as yearly payments.

Participation requires supported equipment, a qualifying GMP account and acceptance of operating terms. Confirm the current incentive cap, eligible location and duration with GMP. A utility service address or ownership of another smart device does not automatically qualify a battery.

Who qualifies

  • Green Mountain Power customer in Vermont.
  • An approved device that GMP can dispatch.
  • Agreement to dedicate a defined share of capacity for a defined term.

How to enroll

Apply through Green Mountain Power or your installer, and confirm how much capacity stays reserved for your own outage backup.

Questions buyers ask

Is the GMP BYOD payment annual?

The battery guide describes an enrollment incentive based on committed power and duration. Do not multiply that amount by the number of years.

Do EVs and thermostats qualify under this battery offer?

This guide concerns GMP’s supported home batteries. Other device programs require their own eligibility and terms.
